ABOUT DR. EDWARD KIMMI, D.C.

Dr. Kimmi is a local small business owner, healthcare practitioner, and community organizer and volunteer. He is also an immigrant and refugee of war. From a very young age Edward was drawn to service. Throughout his life, he has dedicated a significant amount of time giving back to the community. Some examples include:

Founding member of the Diversity Advisory Board. Starting first as a member of the Mayor’s Diversity Task Force, then as a founding member of the Diversity Advisory Board, Edward helped craft the city’s first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan, and helped launch the Beaverton Night Market. “We saw that there was a need to create access for minority and women-owned small businesses to showcase their goods and crafts, but there was also an overwhelming desire by Beaverton residents to learn more about and experience the diverse cultures and cuisines of the world that are found right here in our city.” The Night Market is now Beaverton’s biggest event, drawing in about 10,000 people a year.

Used his downtown clinic to stage a COVID-19 vaccination site. “We knew there was severe need in our immigrant, refugee, and minority communities and a lack of information and access.” To do their part, Dr. Kimmi, his wife Dr. Helen Pak, and their staff were successful in providing over 600 vaccinations.

Leadership of Korean Society of Oregon. Edward is a past President and active member of this organization, which serves and represents over 40,000 Korean-Americans who live in Oregon. “In my role as President, I was responsible for budgeting, planning, and implementing programs equitably across the many communities of Korean Oregonians. I have also served as Board Chair and have taught next-generation Korean Americans about Korean culture and the language at the Oregon Korean School—I believe there is value in cultivating future leaders in our community who embrace and celebrate their heritage.”
